Tarald is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of South-Eastern Norway and a Senior Research Fellow at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs. His research is centered on international negotiations, international economic law, and public-private partnerships in development finance. In his research, he has zoomed in on international investment policy and law, thereunder the negotiation of bilateral investment treaties, the role of international organizations in domestic investment law drafting, and state compliance with investor-State dispute settlement awards. He has previously worked at PluriCourts at the University of Oslo, and as a Senior Advisor in the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Fisheries.
