Marjolein Cupido

About/Bio

Marjolein Cupido is Assistant Professor at the Criminal Law and Criminology Department of VU University Amsterdam and fellow of the Center for International Criminal Justice (CICJ). In addition, she is appointed as Deputy Judge at the District Court of Rotterdam. Marjolein Cupido holds an LL.M. in criminal law (summa cum laude) from Leiden University. In 2015, she defended her doctoral dissertation – entitled Facts Matter: A Study into the Casuistry of Substantive International Criminal Law – at VU University Amsterdam. In 2017, Marjolein Cupido was appointed as Visiting Professional at the International Criminal Court, where she worked on the Defence of Mr. Jean-Pierre Bemba in the Bemba et al. case.
