About/Bio

Professor Dr Roy Andrew Partain holds a Chair in International and Comparative Law and in Mathematical Structures in Law at the University of Aberdeen. His research examines how mathematical patterns exist and operate within legal rules and legal institutions. Major research projects included development of novel mathematical methods for examining optimal governance for novel energy resources, challenging the mathematical models underlying attacks on green energy policies, analyzing medical and pandemic policies, advising East Asian states on development of their offshore resources, advising on coordination of Free Trade Agreements with environmental policies, and research into innovative new frameworks for family law.

Some Observations on the Agreement between Lebanon and Israel on the Delimitation of the Exclusive Economic Zone

Introduction On 11 October 2022, Lebanon and Israel reached a historic agreement to delimit the two countries’ territorial seas and Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ) in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea (‘the Agreement’).
