About/Bio

Abel Knottnerus is a PhD researcher in International Law and International Relations at the University of Groningen. He will defend his dissertation ‘African Presidents and the International Criminal Court’ in January 2018. This dissertation provides a detailed legal analysis of the African Union’s concerns about the prosecution and trial of sitting Heads of State and Government. His previous contributions on this topic include: Africa and the ICC: Perceptions of Justice (Cambridge University Press, 2016 – together with Kamari Clarke and Eefje de Volder).
