1. Derecho PUCP on International Economic Law Special Issue. A special issue of Derecho PUCP on International Economic Law (no. 86, 2021) is out now. Contents include Juan-Felipe Toro-Fernandez & Jaime Tijmes-Ihl, Pacific Alliance, CPTPP and USMCA investment chapters: Substantive convergence, procedural divergence, and Natalia Gallardo-Salazar & Jaime Tijmes-Ihl, The Pacific Alliance and the CPTPP as alternatives to WTO dispute settlement.

2. Global Rights Compliance International Legal Conference. On 9 – 11 June 2021, Global Rights Compliance (GRC) will host an international legal conference. The conference “Legal (Un)Certainty of Occupation: Crimea and Donbas” will bring together scholars and practitioners of international human rights and humanitarian laws to obtain legal commentary of relevance to the situations in Crimea and Donbas. It is expected to deepen the understanding of the complex issues of international law, in particular, the law of occupation, with a special focus on occupation by proxy, division of responsibilities between an occupying power and an ousted sovereign, and avenues for effective redress in the case of violations of law in this context. To participate, register here.

3. Oxford Institute for Ethics, Law and Armed Conflict (ELAC) Post Doctoral Research Fellow Position: International Law and Cyber Operations. ELAC seeks to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, for a period of 12 months, to carry out research on an externally funded project titled ‘The International Law Protections against Cyber Operations Targeting the Healthcare Sector’. Reporting to Professor Dapo Akande, the research fellow will contribute to papers and articles linked to the project. They will help in organising workshops, conferences and working groups, and present papers at conferences or public meetings. 4. NUS Centre for International Law Research Position: Research Associate/Assistant (Investment Law and Policy). The NUS Centre for International Law (CIL) is accepting applications for the position above. The position is for a new research project on investment law and policy at CIL. This project will focus on law and policy of international investment treaties, including in connection with CIL’s position as an official observer in UNCITRAL Working Group III.  Applications are assessed on a rolling basis. Full details of the position and application procedure are available here. 5. Call for Abstracts: Chinese Journal of Environmental Law. The Chinese Journal of Environmental Law welcomes abstract proposals for a Special Issue on ‘Water Law as Environmental Law’. This special issue aims to deal with water law as part of the broad area of environmental law. It seeks to bring together a collection of articles that look at different aspects of this ‘green’ approach to international, transnational, regional, and domestic water law. Issues traditionally regulated by water law, such as water allocation, all have environmental implications. Environmental problems that water law seeks to address include water pollution, waste of water, water scarcity and drought, damage to aquatic biodiversity and freshwater ecosystems, and flood-risk management. 6. Kırımlı Dr. Aziz Bey International Humanitarian Law Competition and Advanced Summer School. Kırımlı Dr. Aziz Bey International Humanitarian Law Competition and Advanced Summer School applications are continuing. The deadline for the application is 2 July 2021. The Advanced Summer School will take place between 30 July – 3 August, and the Competition will take place between 4 – 8 August 2021. Due to the current situation regarding the COVID-19 outbreak, the Competition and the Summer School will be conducted entirely online. 7. Online Roundtable on ‘History and International Criminal Justice’. On Wednesday 23 June at 3-5 pm CET, the ESIL Interest Groups on International Criminal Justice and the History of International Law are organizing an online roundtable on History and International Criminal Justice. This online roundtable aims to put into conversation four scholars who have recently published monographs that engage in different ways with the relationship between history and the practice of international criminal justice.
