1. Call for Submissions: Melbourne Journal of International Law. The Editors of the Melbourne Journal of International Law (‘MJIL’) are now inviting submissions for volume 21(2). The deadline for submissions is 1 July 2020. MJIL is a peer-reviewed academic journal based at the University of Melbourne and publishes innovative scholarly research and critical examination of issues in international law. 2. Hague Academy of International Law Centre for Studies and Research. The Hague Academy of International Law has extended the deadline to apply for the 2021 Centre for Studies and Research (postponement of the 2020 edition) until 1 September 2020 (GMT+1). The programme will take place between 16 August – 3 September 2021 and will focus on the topic of “Applicable Law Issues in International Arbitration”. The Directors of Research, Prof. Giuditta Cordero-Moss (University of Oslo) and Prof. Diego Fernández Arroyo (Sciences Po, Paris), invite applications from researchers including students in the final phase of their doctoral studies, holders of advanced degrees in law, political science, or other related disciplines, early-stage professors and legal practitioners. Applicants should identify the specific topic on which they intend to write. The best articles will be included in a book to be published in the fall of 2022. All applicants are required to register online via the appropriate registration form. 3. New Additions to the Podcast of the UN Audiovisual Library of International Law (AVL). The Codification Division of the UN Office of Legal Affairs recently added the following audio lectures in Spanish to the AVL’s podcast: Mr. Manuel Rama Montaldo on “Aspectos conceptuales e históricos del proceso de codificación y de desarrollo progresivo del derecho internacional en la Naciones Unidas, con especial referencia a la labor de la Comisión de Derecho Internacional (Parte I, Parte II)” and Ms. Concepción Escobar Hernández on “El Tribunal Europeo de Derechos Humanos”. The Audiovisual Library of International Law is available as a podcast on SoundCloud and can also be accessed through the preinstalled applications in Apple or Google devices, or through the podcast application of your preference by searching “Audiovisual Library of International Law”.

4. Kirimli Dr. Aziz Bey International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition and Advanced Summer School. Istanbul Center of International Law (ICIL) and Türk Kızılay (Turkish Red Crescent), with the contributions of the ICRC, will be hosting the 1st edition of Kirimli Dr. Aziz Bey International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition and Advanced Summer School. The advanced summer school will consist of 8 lectures in August and the competition will take place between 7-11 September 2020. Limited financial assistance is applicable to teams in financial hardship. Due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak, all the activities will be online. The competition will be one of the first fully online moot court competition in IHL. The deadline for applications is 17 July 2020 (until 1 July 2020, there is an early-bird discount).
