1. Call for Papers: Chemical and Biological Weapons – The Interconnectivity of Norms. The Justus-Liebig University Gieβen in collaboration with CBWNet are accepting paper proposals for a conference to take place on 23 – 24 October 2023 in Gieβen, Germany. The conference, titled Chemical and Biological Weapons: The Interconnectivity of Norms will examine selected issues pertaining to the normative regimes against biological and chemical weapons. Submissions in line with the thematic area are welcomed. Paper proposals should be no longer than 250 words in length. All submissions should be sent through by 30 July 2023 and may be submitted by email to: Barry.de-Vries {at} recht.uni-giessen(.)de. Find the full call here.

2. Professionals and Professionalism(s) in International Criminal Justice Workshop. An international workshop on Professionals and Professionalism(s) in International Criminal Justice is being hosted by Leeds University on 14 July. The event is free, in person or online. Register here.

3. Call for Applications: Centre for Studies and Research in International Law and International Relations of The Hague Academy of International Law. Applications are open for the 2024 edition of the Centre for Studies and Research in International Law and International Relations of The Hague Academy of International Law. The topic is  ‘International Institutions in the Face of International Crises’. More information can be found here. The deadline is 1 September 2023.

4. Call for Papers: ASCOMARE Yearbook on the Law of the Sea. The ‘Associazione di Consulenza in Diritto del Mare’ (ASCOMARE) is pleased to launch the call for papers for the Third Volume of its Yearbook on the Law of the Sea (YLoS). This Volume will focus on the regulatory, legal, and ethical implications of the use of new technology in maritime security, including the need to ensure intra-generational equity and proportionality (North-South) in the development of new regulatory mechanisms for access and benefit-sharing of resources and technology. Preference will be given to articles focusing on challenges, including ethical ones, and opportunities of the use of new technology in maritime security with an eye to the law of the sea’s implementation and development. Deadline for submission of abstracts is 31 July 2023. Further information is available here.

5. Call for Submissions: Trade, Law and Development. Founded in 2009, the philosophy of Trade, Law and Development (TL&D) has been to generate and sustain a constructive and democratic debate on emergent issues in international economic law and to serve as a forum for the discussion and distribution of ideas. The Board of Editors of TL&D is now inviting original, unpublished manuscripts for publication in the General Issue of the Journal (Vol. XV, No. 2) in the form of ‘Articles’, ‘Notes’, ‘Comments’ and ‘Book Reviews’. Manuscripts received by 5 August 2023, pertaining to any area within the purview of international economic law will be reviewed for publication in the Winter’23 issue. 6. Call for Focus Sections and Papers: 100 Years of Research in Comparative Public Law and International Law. In 2024, the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, Heidelberg (MPIL), will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Over the years, the Institute’s research has tackled foundational issues of public international law, European Union law as well as comparative public law and at times has shaped the debate. As the first centenary comes to a close, they will take a critical look back at the past, yet we also want to look forward by exploring topics, challenges, and methods for the next century. All proposals for focus sections can be submitted to zaoerv {at} mpil(.)de. Proposals should include a short description of the topic and possible contributions (maximum of 1,000 words).
